Minimally invasive surgery forum held in Changchun

The 2019 minimally invasive surgery summit forum, as well as the 8th Changchun international laparoscopic technical seminar, opened at Qian Wei Hospital of Jilin Province in Changchun, capital of Northeast China’s Jilin province, on June 1.

More than 400 experts from all over the world, including some from the United States and Japan, attended the event.

It was themed around innovation and aimed to promote the “Health China” plan, providing a platform for experts to exchange experience and discuss the latest technologies.

Zhang Weimin, director of the Qian Wei Hospital in Jilin Province, said at the opening ceremony that the three-day forum included academic lectures, live broadcasts of surgeries, and videos, aimed at promoting new technologies and boosting development of the minimally invasive surgery sector.

Minimally invasive surgery, along with genetic engineering and organ transplantation, are considered the three major directions for international medical development in the 21st century.

In recent years, an average of around 3,000 minimally invasive surgical procedures have been performed at Qian Wei Hospital annually, earning it a name in the sector in Jilin province.

During the forum, experts delivered reports on research and development in the minimally invasive surgery sector, including those from Peking University People’s Hospital, Beijing Tongren Hospital of Capital Medical University, the Chinese PLA General Hospital, and Peking University International Hospital.
