Jilin International Studies University unveiled

The 2019 Chinese-Foreign University Presidents Forum and the unveiling ceremony for Jilin International Studies University (JISU) were held at JISU in Changchun, capital of Northeast China’s Jilin province, on May 25.

More than 1,000 people attended the event, including representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Jilin Provincial Government, the Chinese Society of Education, 114 universities from 25 countries, and JISU alumni.

Established in 1995, the private university was formerly known as the Jilin Huaqiao Foreign Language Institute, and in 2018, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to change its name to Jilin International Studies University, making it the first private college in China to change its status from “institute” to “university”.

JISU currently offers 36 undergraduate programs and six postgraduate programs, and provides education in 15 foreign languages. The university has established relationships with more than 140 universities and educational institutes in over 20 countries and regions.

JISU president Qin He, along with a number of other officials, announced the official unveiling of the university.

Following the ceremony, the 2019 Chinese-Foreign University Presidents Forum was held at JISU’s international exchange center. More than 100 university presidents from all around the world attended.

The forum, aimed at deepening educational cooperation among countries involved the Belt and Road Initiative, provided a platform for universities to exchange educational experiences and establish international cooperation.
