According to the development targets issued last year, Jilin's medicine and health care industrial scale will exceed 530 billion yuan ($77 billion) by the end of 2020, accounting for seven percent of its GDP.

To achieve this goal, the provincial government has poured over 670 million yuan ($97.5 million) into the science and technology funds in the industry since 2016, of which 340 million yuan ($49.5 million) has been allocated to the research and manufacturing of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).

The northeastern province will host the 2018 China (Jilin) Northeast Asia Chinese Medicine and Health Care Industry Expo in Changchun from Sept 14 to 16, to further promote its TCM culture.

The 30,000-square-meter expo expects to attract over 10,000 people and more than 330 enterprises from home and abroad.
