The Belt and Road International Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference, with a theme of "popularizing Jilin's opening up and promoting exchange and cooperation", opened in Changchun, capital of Jilin province, on June 21.

The event was co-hosted by the Training Center of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the CCPIT Jilin Sub-council and the Jilin Sub-chamber of the China Chamber of International Commerce.

Representatives from 29 national governments, enterprises and business associations attended the conference.

At the conference, the CCPIT Jilin Sub-council signed contracts to build a Belt and Road cooperative platform with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Thailand Sub-association of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the Sino-Thai Rayong Industrial Zone and Sino-Laos Investment Limited Company.

Ninety-three representatives from business associations of countries along the Belt and Road had in-depth negotiations with over 60 local enterprises. Some of them achieved letters of intention for initial cooperation.

After the conference, CCPIT Jilin Sub-council organized visits by the participants to some local companies, including CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles.

Well-known international law firms were also invited to lecture on laws and risk prevention in international investment and cooperation and provide professional training for Chinese enterprise as they go global.

According to an official of the CCPIT Jilin Sub-council, Jilin province is an important window to the north for China, and the Belt and Road Initiative effectively promotes local open economy.

It is hoped that through this meeting participants will have a better understanding of Jilin and jointly promote the development of the Belt and Road, promoting bilateral exchanges and cooperation between regions to a new level.

The Belt and Road tour in China is hosted by the CCPIT Training Center and is meant to strengthen the interaction between local governments and foreign business sectors and build a cooperation platform for them.

The tour's stop in Jilin was its first in the old industrial base of northeast China, and was of great significance for the revitalization of Northeast China.
