The 2nd Chinese Historical and Cultural Famous Streets co-sponsored by Chinese Culture Newspaper and a Chinese cultural relics newspaper started in Oct 2009. On June 13, the result of the second batch of Chinese Historical and Cultural Famous Streets was announced in Suzhou, including Wudadao of Tianjin, Xieyandai Street of Beijing and Zhongshan Road of Quanzhou, among others. Of the winners, three are in Jiangsu province.

Historical and Cultural Famous Streets is an important part of the series of famous cities, towns and counties. The value and status cannot be ignored. It is significant to protect those streets which gather historical and cultural information. Currently, the historical and cultural cities and towns are all protected by government regulations, and the streets need to be included in the scope of protection. Many people hope through the contest, the essence of these streets would be broadcast to the world and lead the way for more historical streets in China to do the same.
