Several culture year activities popped up around the world to further boost the cultural exchange and communication between China and other cultures.
On October 7, Italy began its Chinese Culture Year, a special year-long program of Chinese culture-related celebrations featuring hundreds of artistic events, which will last until next October. The celebrations of the Chinese Culture Year in Italy follow the Italian Culture Year in China which took place in 2006 and are aimed at spreading knowledge of the Chinese culture in Italy and paving the way to a dynamic cultural cooperation. 2010 also marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
"Imagine Australia, the Year of Australian Culture in China" was formally kicked off on June 10 at the National Center for the Performing Arts. The event sparks a year of vibrant and diverse programs celebrating the Australian culture in China. And the Year of Chinese Culture in Australia will run in Australia between 2011-2012.
In Russia, the "Year of Chinese Language" created a stage for more than 200 activities, as China and Russia seek to promote cultural exchange and bilateral ties.
