On August 1, 2010, China's Danxia Landform has become the nation’s 8th World Natural Heritage location after it was placed on the World Heritage List by the World Heritage Committee at the 34th annual meeting in Brazil. In July, the historic monuments of Dengfeng in Central Henan Province made the list, taking the number of China's world heritage listings to 40.
This year, the acupuncture and moxibustion of traditional Chinese medicine and Peking Opera were added to the UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage List. Other intangibles including Chinese wooden moveable-type printing, leak-proof technology of Chinese junks and the Uyghur folk performance Meshrep in China had been inscribed on the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding on Nov. 16.
