VANCOUVER, Canada -- Rainbow flags and rainbow-colored elements which were a symbol of gay pride were eye-catching in downtown Vancouver Sunday as the annual Pride Parade was held in the largest city in west Canada.

In celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Vancouver Pride Parade was happily participated by local community of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people (LGBT). They used the event to show their pride and claim for equal rights.

The parade also enjoyed wide support with parade contingents and floats from City of Vancouver, police department, fire department and other government departments as well as many social groups and businesses. The mayor of Vancouver and police chief of Vancouver were among the officials in the parade.

Spanning 20 blocks and attracting an estimated audience of about 600,000, the three-hour Pride Parade illustrated Vancouver's cultural diversity. It's the largest LGBT gathering in west Canada.
