LANZHOU - Fire fighters in Northwest China's Gansu Province have brought under control a fire which broke out Tuesday at a material plant, said local authorities.
The fire occurred around 6 pm at an eight-story plant owned by Fangda Carbon New Material Sic-Tech Co., Ltd. in the provincial capital of Lanzhou City. No casualties have been reported, said a spokesman with the city's emergency response office.
The accident was caused by asphalt, a flammable material, which caught fire accidentally, he said.
Eleven fire engines had been sent to the site and brought the fire under control by 9 pm, said the spokesman.
All workers in the plant were evacuated after the accident, he added.
