The Hani ethnicity mainly lives in southern Yunnan province, with a population of more than 1.2 million. Hani people rely on agriculture for a living, and are particularly known for their terrace farming. A Hani man is not judged by his looks, but by the terrace he has made. A Hani woman is judged on how well she does terrace farming.
