An archaeological excavation is underway at the site of Majiayao Culture in Lintao county, Northwest China's Gansu province.

Judging from a large number of pottery wares, stone tools, and bones which had been unearthed at the site in the previous excavation, the site is home to ancient people more than 5,000 years ago.

The archaeological excavation, jointly directed by China's Institute of Archaeology and Cultural Relics and Archaeology Research Institute of Gansu province, restarted in August 2015.
