Paul Gauthier failed to defend his boccia title at the ongoing Paralympics, but he got another reward - the love from his family that has made him one of the happiest competitors at the Beijing Paralympics.

Jiang Xintian, the speech-and-hearing impaired emcee of China's Disabled People Performing Art Troupe, was taken aback when she heard the news. "I had been picked as the anchor woman for the Paralympic Games torch lighting ceremony in the Temple of Heaven," Jiang says as she recalls that moment two months ago, in rapid sign language.
