Loong and short of it

The JW Marriott's new lounge is all about dragons. There are poured glass dragon sculptures on the shelves, painted dragon-inspired flourishes on the walls, the marble bar even undulates like one.

Fortunately, a good hotel knows when to stop pushing the theatrical thematics and get to the real business of drink-o-tainment, and in this department Loong will find a niche among cocktail connoisseurs. The drink list is what you’d expect from a five-star caliber hotel, with a few flourishes, including two signature concoctions.

We loved the “Lo-hito” (when the dragon meets the mohito) which mixes in a bloody dash of grenadine with a surfeit of fresh mint. We also loved the leather-backed bucket seats, a tip of the hat to ‘70s nostalgia.
