Japanese singerMiyaviwill return to Shanghai to give his fourth annual China concert. He will present his visionary music as part of his 2009 Neo Tokyo Samurai Black World Tour.

The Shanghai International ContemporaryTheater Festivalwill bring over a dozen shows from Asia, Europe and North America to the city this year. The annual global theater festival was founded by the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre in 2005.

Highlights include dance drama Unbound, produced by Wenwei Wang from Canada. It reflects the former practice of binding women's feet in pursuit of higher status and impossible erotic ideals.

Floating Brothel is an American theatrical production following the stories of three women.

My Garden narrates the story of a man who leaves his girlfriend to pursue his dreams.

Exhibitions

The exhibition features 57 oil paintings, along with a collection of prints, sketches and sculptures. All works focus onrevolutionary subjectsdating from 1939 to 2003. Some of these art pieces have won record-breaking prices at the auction market due to the quality of the work and its unique historical significance.

India'sShahid Parvezopens his first solo exhibition of 35 paintings and prints in China today. The artist paints with exaggeration and expressions that take on a childlike innocence.

This exhibition showcaseslithographsfrom a variety of Chinese contemporary masters, including Zhu Wei, Liu Ye and Wang Guangyi. Since the early 1990s, experimentation with print media has become a significant phenomenon in Chinese contemporary art. Artists exploit the technical qualities of silkscreen printing while maintaining the expressive values of oil painting. Their accomplishments have contributed to a deepening discourse about art production.
