A group show of paintings and calligraphy inspired by Taoist art is slated to run from Dec 24 to 30 at Hong Kong Visual Arts Center.

On display will be over 40 works of ink painting and Chinese calligraphy by seven artists from Hong Kong and the mainland.

Members of the Hong Kong-based Chinese Tao Painting Society, these artists draw inspiration from Taoist teachings and practices to create their elegant and poetic art.

Most of the subjects, such as auspicious birds, flowers, and symbols in their paintings and calligraphic works, are closely associated with Taoist doctrines or Taoist literature, according to curator and organizer JD Chou.
