Rain, heat to continue over next three days

BEIJING - China's meteorological authorities said Tuesday strong rains are expected to fall on areas along the Yellow River and Huaihe River as well as in the Sichuan Basin in the next three days.
High temperatures are expected to hit several of the country's southern regions, the National Meteorological Center said in a statement on its website.
The provincial regions of Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hunan, Fujian and Guangxi will see temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius over the next few days, while some of these regions may experience temperatures as high as 37 degrees Celsius, the center said.
Furthermore, Muifa, the ninth typhoon of this year, is forecast to bring gales to the East China Sea and eastern coastal areas of Taiwan over the next 24 hours, the statement said.
The typhoon was located 21.8 degrees north latitude and 134.1 degrees east longitude, packing winds of up to 45 meters per second at 5 am Tuesday.
