BEIJING - The Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) and the Chinese Red Cross Foundation (CRCF) have pledged to donate 300,000 yuan ($45,527) to help those who were injured in a deadly high-speed train crash in East China.

The RCSC and the CRCF will each contribute half of the total amount, the RCSC said in a statement on Sunday. The RCSC did not give specific details regarding how the donations will be used.

Local Red Cross organizations have mobilized rescue workers, psychological experts and volunteers to offer assistance to the families of the victims and the injured, according to the RCSC.

A total of 35 people were killed and 210 people were injured, according to official figures updated at 2 pm Sunday.

The train accident occurred at 8:38 pm Saturday near Wenzhou. High-speed train D301 rear-ended bullet train D3115, which lost power after being hit by lightning.

Four of the D301's coaches fell off of a bridge, while two of the D3115's coaches were derailed without falling off the bridge.
