Macao's int'l music festival to begin in Oct

MACAO - The 25th Macao International Music Festival (MIMF) will be held here from October 7 to November 5 this year, Macao's Cultural Affairs Bureau announced on Tuesday.
To mark the Silver Jubilee of the MIMF, this year's festival boasts a diverse schedule embracing Western and Chinese opera, symphonic, choral and chamber music and performance in the contemporary, folk, pop, fusion and jazz genres, according to the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the organizer of the festival.
The music festival will present a total of 20 high quality programs and passionate performances by leading troupes and superstars in the musical firmament from a dozen countries and regions around the world, such as Germany, Austria, Portugal, Switzerland, Lithuania, the United States, Israel, Japan, China's Hong Kong, China's Macao, Chinese mainland, said Ung Vai Meng, president of the Bureau.
According to the organizer, Itzhak Perlman, the Israeli master will play his violin on October 20 in Macao Cultural Center.
