DALIAN -- All 12 people who were trapped by a tunnel cave-in in Northeast China's Liaoning province have been confirmed to be in stable conditions, and they are expected to be saved on Tuesday afternoon, according to rescuers.

Rescuers have completed digging of an escape channel, and said they hoped the trapped will be saved at around 3:00 pm Tuesday.

At least four ventilation holes were dug later on Monday, through which food, water and cell phones have been sent down to those trapped.

A tunnel under construction collapsed Monday morning and trapped 12 workers at Shengli Road of Dalian, a coastal city in Liaoning province, according to rescuers.
