President Hu returns to Beijing after Russia visit

BEIJING - Chinese President Hu Jintao arrived in Beijing Monday morning after attending the celebrations in Moscow marking the 65th anniversary of the victory of the Great Patriotic War over Nazi Germany.

During his stay in Russia, Hu and other leaders took part in a series of celebrating activities, including a military parade at the Red Square, a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers, and a banquet hosted by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. He also met with some Russian veterans who helped China battle Japanese aggressor troops in the World Anti-Fascist War.

Hu said the friendship cemented with blood and people's lives laid a solid foundation for the China-Russia strategic partnership of cooperation, and that it would also ensure the friendship between the two peoples will last for generations.

He urged the two peoples to cherish the hard-won peace, strengthen strategic coordination, so as to jointly promote the establishment of a harmonious world of lasting peace and common prosperity.

He also called on the international community to establish and implement the new security concept, boost mutual trust, care for mutual interests, stick to friendly coordination, respect cultural diversification, and jointly seek cooperation and development.

During his visit, Hu met with Russian President Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. Leaders of both sides exchanged views on advancing Sino-Russian strategic partnership of cooperation and regional issues of common concern.

Hu's Russia visit has enhanced China-Russia traditional friendship, deepened China-Russia strategic coordination, promoted bilateral pragmatic cooperation, demonstrated China's view and position on peace and expanded its international influence.

The visit generated a good response from the international community and achieved a complete success, according to officials of Chinese Foreign Ministry.
