Qiandaohu's thousand islands in the sun

Crocodiles, jellyfish and other perils of the deep are not part of the Qiandaohu experience, meaning you can add swimming in the Great Outdoors, in azure waters veiling buried archeological treasures, to your stress-free trip into China's less-industrial past.

The artistic side of Expo

An Expo is meant to be the ultimate showcase for different fields such as technology, culture, science, design, and, of course, art. In the case of Expo 2010 Shanghai there are a number of pavilions that stand out for their artistic side: China, Mexico, France and Italy. They all offer priceless pieces of artwork among their highlights. They show that having a theme of cities and improvement of quality of life includes art.

From the press

Netizens at Douban.com, a popular lifestyle portal among young people in China, keep a "floating" Expo journal. As one visitor completes his or her journal on visiting the Expo Garden, be it a diary, a poem, a photo or an illustration, he or she passes it to another visitor. The "floating" Expo journal has attracted hundreds of netizens who have visited the Expo Garden. A school teacher from Singapore wrote her tips for visiting the Expo Garden; a visitor from Malaysia wrote "tenmakasih" (Malay for thank you); a girl from Guangdong province left a postcard which reads: "Love in my heart" .

"We see increasing hints encouraging people to smoke, such as matches and ashtrays by beds in hotels. Those who want to quit may be lured into smoking again. If we eliminate or decrease these hints, perhaps it's easier to create a smoke-free environment. I suggest that we close smoking rooms in the Expo Garden, which will make the Expo Garden entirely smoke free. Although the interests of smokers may be impaired, the image of Expo 2010 Shanghai will be promoted and the environment will be better."

Clampdown on fake products

The oil painting, The Drunken Beauty, renowned as one of the most famous paintings in China, is well received at home and abroad. All kinds of derivative products based on The Drunken Beauty painting have gained favor in the art market, but the painting has also been subject to copyright infringement and piracy in China.
