Visitors have found various solutions to prevent sunstroke in Expo Garden as temperatures climb to 28 C. Visitors without umbrellas shelter under folding chairs and paper bags. Despite the funny look, the measure is quite effective, said visitors. Newspaper and guide maps are also folded into hats of various styles. Some DIY hats are with shapes of pagodas, boats and pyramids,

attracting photographers. Expo organizers also added awnings outside pavilions to improve environment for queuing visitors.

Panda antics

On June 7, Chengdu Day at the Expo 2010

Shanghai, the city of Chengdu presented a panda suit to fit Manneken Pis, known in French as the Petit Julien, a small bronze fountain sculpture of a naked boy urinating into a fountain, at the Expo 2010 Shanghai. To open up to the world and let it have a better understanding of the city, Chengdu put the same costume on the original sculpture in Brussels on June 5. As well as the panda suit, the world-famous "first citizen of Belgium" statue has a wardrobe of 741 costumes. The panda is the first animal costume and the fourth from China.

LED leads

Millions of LED lights are shining bright in the Expo Garden, making the lighting colorful, especially in green. Energy-efficient lighting with LED is in 80 percent of pavilions in the Expo Garden. The energy consumption of LED lighting is only 10 percent of that of incandescent lighting.
