Meeting with British Chief of the General Staff Peter Wall in Beijing, Liang said bilateral cooperation in such fields as trade, technology, culture and education had been fruitful.

The Chinese military valued friendly cooperation with the UK forces and they were a major part of the two countries' relations, said Liang.

Wall said the UK believed bilateral military cooperation had great potential.

He said the British side expected to step up exchanges with China in exploring peaceful military operations, like peacekeeping, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
