Chinese, Rwandan defense ministers hold talks

BEIJING - Chinese Defense Minister Liang Guanglie held talks with his Rwandan counterpart James Kabarebe Friday to boost the bilateral relationship and enhance military cooperation.

Liang said the two countries' relationship has developed in a healthy and stable manner, as evidenced by the two sides' concrete and fruitful cooperation.

Liang also hailed the mutual support and coordination of the two sides in international affairs.

Recent years have witnessed accelerated development of military ties between the two nations, Liang, also a State Councilor, noted.

He also said China attaches great importance to developing ties with the Rwandan military.

Kabarebe thanked China for its support of Rwanda's development efforts.

He also expressed Rwanda's hope to join with China to deepen cooperation.

He reiterated Rwanda's adherence to the one-China policy.

Invited by Liang, Kabarebe arrived in Beijing on Oct 20 to begin a 6-day official goodwill visit.
