Tianjin - More than 60 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in China Wednesday called on the world to make concerted efforts to cut the emission of greenhouse gases at the ongoing UN climate meeting in Tianjin.

In a seminar with the name of "Green China, Race to the Future", representatives from Chinese and international NGOs including Greenpeace, Oxfam and Friends of Nature urged the immediacy of global effort in low-carbon campaign

Sze Ping Lo, the coordinator of the seminar said the global low-carbon race is already undergoing. "True leaders with a perspective of sustainable development will not miss this precious historical opportunity," he said.

Greenpeace campaigner Li Yan said it is critical for world leaders to reach a "fair, ambitious and legally binding global protocol", which benefits under-developed countries and peoples.

China has made its commitment in combating global warming. Beijing has made painstaking efforts to reduce its carbon intensity by 40%-45%.

Chen Jiliang, representative of China Climate Action Network said China has displayed strong will power and has taken actions grown in a low-carbon way.

However, he pointed out in a tense global low-carbon race, China still has a lot of work to do.
