The training program for China's seven newly recruited astronauts, including two women, has started, with both men and women astronauts receiving almost the same training courses, the Liberation Army Daily reported Tuesday.
The new recruits are expected to receive complicated trainings on how to conduct scientific experiments when up in space in the future. Training requirements for both male and female astronauts will be different, as each will have their own missions to accomplish, despite they have similar courses.
China began to recruit astronauts for its space program in 1998. In 2003, China sent its first astronaut, Yang Liwei, into space in a Chinese made spacecraft, Shenzhou-5.
