E China city destroys 4 million knock-offs

HANGZHOU - Customs officials in east China's Yiwu City in Zhejiang Province have destroyed 4 million counterfeit brand items, a Customs spokesman said Friday.

The knock-offs, which were destroyed Thursday, were fakes of more than 80 leading international brands such as Rolex, Chanel and Armani.

Yiwu Customs had seized a total of 21.76 million knock-offs destined for export, with a total value of 28.55 million yuan since the Yiwu Customs office was established in July 2009.

Yiwu is the world's largest wholesale market for small commodities as well as China's largest small commodities export base.
