HARBIN - Five people died in a three-vehicle pile-up Friday in northeast China's Heilongjiang province, local police said Saturday.

A truck trailer knocked a jeep to the bottom of another trailer at around 1 pm Friday on a highway between Harbin, capital of Heilongjiang, and Yilan county. All five people in the jeep were killed instantly, the Harbin Municipal Public Security Bureau said in a statement.

The visibility was less than 10 meters due to strong wind and heavy snow when the accident occurred, the police said. The investigation is still underway.
