Straw barn catches fire, killing four children in S China

NANNING: Four kids were killed when a rural barn used for storing straws was ablaze in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, local police said Wednesday.

The barn caught fire at around 4 pm Tuesday in Tianchen Village, Binyang County. The fire was put out by 6 pm. Villagers found remains of the four children when they cleared up the debris, the public security bureau of Nanning City said in a statement.

The barn is owned by Huang Chanyu, a villager of Tianchen Village.

The dead included three girls and one seven-year-old boy. Their names were unknown. The kids were from four separate families in the same village as Huang.

The police is investigating the cause of the fire.
