Sun Shanwu, former deputy chief of the Henan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve at the Intermediate People's Court of Weifang city in east China's Shandong province on Wednesday, Xinhua reported.
Sun, 63, who also served as Party secretary of Luoyang city and a member of the Standing Committee of the Henan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China from 2002 to 2006, took bribes worth 9.1 million yuan (US$1.33 million), the court said.
He was expelled from the Party and his official post in September, 2008.
