SW China traffic accident kills 8, injures 20

GUIYANG: Eight people died and 20 were injured when a bus plunged off a hill in Southwest China's Guizhou province Monday, local authorities told Xinhua Tuesday.

A bus with 29 passengers and a driver plunged off the 100-meter-high hill at 11 am Monday on Provincial Highway 305 in Minxiao town in Jiangkou county in Tongren city of Guizhou.

Six people, including the driver, died at the scene and 22 were injured, said an official of Jiangkou county Government.

Two others died in hospital, the official said.

On Tuesday, all 20 injured were in a stable condition, the official said.

The municipal government had arrived at the county and county government officials were investigating the cause of the accident.
