More than 7,600 computers in China were attacked by viruses in 2009, totaling more than 8.4 billion attacks, according to a report released by a firewall company in China, cited by chinanews.cn.
The report on China's computer virus and internet safety was conducted by the Kingsoft Company, which was said to have detected at least 20 million new viruses and Trojan last year.
The major viruses emerging are IE homepage tamper device which changes your homepage settings. KIDO and cfg which steal user names and browser lock, gameime and Delphi.
"With people raising their awareness of Internet security, viruses tend to disguise themselves and appear in a less obvious way," said Li Tiejun, an anti-virus engineer of Kingsoft.
Guangdong, Jiangsu and Shandong provinces are most affected areas by viruses in China, totaling 25 percent of all, the report said.
