Marine disasters in China were responsible for the loss of 95 lives with a direct economic loss of an estimated 10 billion yuan and ($1.5 billion) last year, according to an announcement released by National Bureau of Oceanography (NBO) on Wednesday.
Disasters such as storm surge, huge wave, sea ice and red tide emerged 132 times and the number is lower than the average level, said Li Haiqing, spokesman of NBO.
