TAIPEI: Taiwan's military is searching for a trainer aircraft that disappeared Tuesday during a training flight near southern Taiwan's Kaohsiung County, local media reported.

Two crew were aboard the T-34 trainer, which had been in service for more than 30 years, when it took off at about 1 p.m. Tuesday. They later lost contact with ground command, according to media reports.

The names of the pilots were not given.

As of Wednesday noon, Taiwan military forces had dispatched 12 aircraft to search for the missing aircraft and the two pilots, but they had found no trace so far.
