Children under the age of 12 should not be allowed to use mobile phones as pornographic information is too easy to obtain, a professor cited by cnwest.com said today.

"Besides the crackdown on pornographic information on cell phones, children below 12 should be banned from using mobiles in law," said Yang Weiping, a professor of Shaanxi Normal University and a member of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

Young people are curious about all and sometimes cannot tell right and wrong. Bad information in cell phones will affect them in a very bad way, said Yang.

"The children in my family are primary school students and using phones. I cannot image what will happen if they see the bad information," Yang added.
