China still has no grading system for movies and is unlikely to have one for a number of years, according to Beijing's Radio and Television Bureau (BRTB), the Beijing Times reported today.
The bureau is said to have researched the issue of film grading for years and found the practice hard to put into place in the country.
"We don't see the problems raised by people demanding a film grading can be solved after the grading is completed," said Zang Zengxiang, deputy head of BRTB.
Wang Xingdong, a member of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, first proposed film grading in his draft in 2003.
