Two dead, 6 missing in East China Sea

GUANGZHOU: Two fishermen from south China's Guangdong Province were confirmed dead and another six and their fishing boast went missing in the East China Sea, local authorities said on Sunday.

Relatives of the victims reported at 2:30 pm on Thursday that they could not reach the eight people on the boat from Nan'ao County, Guangdong, said Chen Zhenxi, an information official with the county's oceanic and fishery administration.

The bureaus of maritime safety, oceanic and fishery as well as rescue operations of Shantou City, which administers Nan'ao, started the search and rescue.

Fishermen in the neighboring Fujian Province on Friday recovered the bodies of Ke Shuishun and Yang Yonglong, who were confirmed to be on the missing boat.

The search for another six missing was continuing as of 5 pm on Sunday.
