Ieoh Ming Pei to design palace museum

World-renowned architect Ieoh Ming Pei has been invited to design the palace site museum in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, according to xinhuanet.com citing the city's Cultural Relics Bureau.

Standing 100 meters long and 25 meters wide, the relics of the site were discovered in 2007, but date back to the 3rd century and are considered to be the palace of the Six Dynasties up until the 6th century.

The developer has spent some 50 million yuan ($7.3 million) to invite Ieoh Ming Pei to design the museum who is considered the last master of high modernist architecture. This work will be his 75th.
