A promotion meeting for a well-known mountain, "Mount Rooster" in central China's Henan province was held on Friday in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on January 15, 2010.
Officials from central and local governments and representatives with 43 nations and regions took part in the presentation conference.
Kikungshan, or "Mount Rooster", is located at the intersection of borders of Henan and Hubei provinces, 38 kilometers south away from Xinyang city, Henan province.
The mountain took the name because its shape looked like the wing of a rooster. It's famous for its scenic flavors, historical culture and charms of the surrounding areas with a radius extending to all directions as far as one thousand Li, so it is really true of such a saying as "four different seasons in a single day".
Kikungshan has also conquered the world with its historical heritages, cultural relics and the Expo of the combined foreign culture. It is just like a history book, recording the legends of the Chinese and foreign cultural clashes.
The first foreigner, Daniel Nelson, who found the mountain, came from Norway in 1902. He was totally obsessed with the beauty of the mountain then decided to build a house to settle down in the mountain, thus disclosing the history of the 100-year-long development of Kikungshan and contributing to the high reputation of it.
Within more than 30 years thereafter, foreign friends from the US, Great Britain, France, Germany, Russia, Japan, Belgium, Holland and other countries and regions had 509 villas built in the mountains, displaying mingled architectural styles and highlighting "Architectural Expo of all countries".
Based on these natural and cultural resources of the Kikungshan, Henan province has made a plan to forge the mountain as an international summer vacation resort for holiday tourism, business prosperity and entrepreneurial undertakings.
Over 4 billion US dollars have been invested into affiliated projects. Some development projects such as Small Town of World Flavors, Tourist Reception Center and other infrastructure projects have been built in this area. Some projects such as Golf Community, Mountain Area Villa, Bourdon Convalescent Garden etc. are under construction.
