China's governmental purchasers may be requested to avoid using suppliers owned by their blood relations within three generations, according to a state proposal, cited by Guangzhou daily.
The proposal, contained in a pilot regulation for the Government Procurement Law, sparked hot debate online.
"Apart from blood ties, there are close relations such as friends, classmates. How can it fend off all these?" said an unnamed netizen.
"Many countries have such kind of rules. It's regular to have it here. But how to define 'close relations' is open to discussion," said Xu Huandong, government purchase expert and professor of Central University of Finance and Economics.
