China's love birds can read a vow before they register as couple, Beijing Daily reported Today.

Four versions of marriage vows were prepared by China's Ministry of Civil Affairs to raise awareness about the responsibilities brought by marriage, including understanding, tolerance and honesty.

The service will be provided to those who request it. However, only one of 10 couples chooses to read a vow.

"I didn't take a vow because my family and friends are not around, and it didn't seem necessary," said a groom-to-be surnamed Hu.
