A group of 4,342 children sickened by tainted milk in northwest China's Shaanxi province received 9 million yuan ($1.3 million) in compensation in 2009, Chinese Business View reported, citing the province's industry and commerce administration.
Shaanxi authorities are supervising the compensation payments stemming from the "Sanlu" powdered milk scandal, in which many children became ill after drinking powdered milk containing melamine in 2008, according to reports.
