A graduate student from Xinzhou in Shanxi province was awarded 10,000 yuan on Tuesday for reporting 32 pornographic websites to government officials, China Youth Daily reported.

A campaign to eliminate pornography from the Internet and mobile phones is under way in China, and prosecutors from ten municipalities and provinces have issued awards ranging from 1,000 yuan to 2,000 yuan for reporting illegal websites.

Altogether, 61,982 pornographic websites were reported between Dec 4, 2009, and Jan 4, and 58,614 have been recorded. People can log on to www.shdf.gov.cn to report illegal websites. The highest award is 10,000 yuan.
