The crash occurred around 11 am and the wreckage was still burning, said Chen Hua, secretary of communist party committee of Jichang township, Zhijin county, Guizhou.

The helicopter severed high-voltage power lines as it crashed and a witness saw a man parachuting out, but the man had not been found, said Chen.

The crash occurred on an uninhabited hillside.

No casualties had been found, said Chen.

The helicopter was grey in color, indicating that it was probably not a military aircraft.

More than 100 rescuers are searching the area.
