Telescope as big as eight basketball courts

Asia's biggest telescope that will look deep into space had a foundation stone laying ceremony in Sheshan, the Shanghai Evening Post reported.

The massive telescope that covers the size of eight basketball courts was built in Sheshan, west of Shanghai municipality and has a height of 70 meters and a caliber of 65 meters.

The telescope will be used for China's space exploration programs and is ranked fourth in the world compared to other similar devices.
