NANJING: A bus driver was sentenced to death in east China's Jiangsu Province after killing a pedestrian, according to local court sources.

The Intermediate People's Court of Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu, meted out the capital punishment to 50-year-old Wang Jianqiang for "threatening public security in a dangerous way" on Friday.

The driver, who had been in a fray with his colleague, was dissatisfied with judgement by the bus company.

The court was told that on April 13, 2009, Wang, after his demand for a re-judgement was turned down by his company, steered a No 114 bus deliberately towards passengers waiting at a bus stop at about 9 pm to vent his anger.

After injuring two passengers, he killed a man surnamed Sun on a motorcycle and wrecked a taxi and a sedan.

Wang was finally stopped by another taxi and guards from a police station.

Wang voiced no dissent with the charges during the first-instance trial.
