Hong Kong: Chinese State Councilor Liu Yandong has started her visit programme after her arrival at Hong Kong International Airport this Saterday afternoon.

She was greeted at the airport by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang, the Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr Peng Qinghua, the Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, and the Director of the Chief Executive's Office, Mr Raymond Tam. Shortly after arriving at her hotel, Madam Liu met the Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang.

Liu then proceeded to the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza to officiate at the opening ceremony of the 2009 Hong Kong East Asian Games and watch a parade of adorned vessels amid special light effects and cultural performances.

Before the opening ceremony, Madam Liu attended a reception at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and was photographed with principal officials of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. She also met the visiting International Olympic Committee President, Count Jacques Rogge.
