6 dead in NW China auto crash

LANZHOU: Six people are dead and 18 injured in a collision involving a van and a coach Monday in northwest China's Gansu Province.

The accident occurred at about 7:50 a.m. when the van driver lost control of his vehicle and it collided with a coach, which carried 21 passengers, on Tianchan Road in Tianshui City, said a spokesman with the provincial traffic police.

The coach swerved into the roadside ditch. Three passengers on the coach and three people in the van died at the scene. Eighteen injured were rushed to hospital, he said.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
