Chinese freighter wrecked at ROK waters, 1 missing

ZHOUSHAN, Zhejiang: One went missing after a Chinese freighter collided with a ship of Republic of Korea (ROK) Thursday off the coast of ROK's Inchon City, according a police statement.

All the eleven crew members of the 1,340-tonne freighter fell overboard as the accident occurred at around 0 a.m. Thursday, said a statement released by the border police of Zhoushan City in east China's Zhejiang Province Friday.

Ten people were rescued by Korean rescuers but one mechanician from Zhanjiang City of south China's Guangdong Province was missing, it added.

The statement said the cause of the accident is still under investigation and the China's embassy to ROK is following up with the accident. No further details were given.
