106th Canton Fair attracts more purchasers and deals

A total of 188,170 purchasers from 212 countries and regions attended the 106th Import and Export Fair in Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong province, 22,734 more than the number of people who attended the 105th Fair in spring 2009 and 13,608 more than the number of attendees at the 104th Fair in autumn of last year, an increase of 13.7 percent and 7.8 percent respectively, according to the Ministry of Commerce website.

The 106th Fair, which ran from October 15 to November 4, saw a total of 37,268 purchasers from Europe, up 31.5 percent compared to the105th Fair and also the largest increase margin, compared with America, Asia, and Oceania.

Deals valued at $30.47 billion were made during the 106th Fair, an increase of $4.24 billion than the 105th Fair, but a decease of $1.08 billion yuan compared to the 104th Fair.

The Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, is held twice a year in the spring and autumn.
